Buying a children’s tricycle – some safety points to bear in mind

SO YOU’RE THINKING of getting a children’s tricycle for your little one, but you’re a bit apprehensive. Well, that’s understandable, obviously the safety of your child is paramount. There are certain things to consider before you make your purchase but as long as you set things up in a sensible way and make the right choice of trike, a whole lot of fun lies ahead.
If the vehicle is for indoor use only, then the rider is unlikely to be able to get up a full head of steam, so speeding will with luck not be an issue!
Once they’re outside in the yard or the park, kids can ride faster and the stability of the trike becomes more important. A tricycle with a lower center of gravity is more stable and less prone to tipping over when the handlebars are turned too quickly or sharply at speed.
All tricycles, though, are low to the ground and cannot be seen easily by car drivers. This makes them particularly vulnerable in driveways. Safety flag poles can be attached on some tricycles to make them more visible, but supervision is still necessary. Ideally, children’s tricycles are great for little ones to ride indoors or in a contained area, such as the back yard or garden – well away from traffic.
