The Joys of flying a RC Helicopter
I have been a RC model enthusiast for years however up until recently I was into RC boats and RC cars. My favourite was a RC car called “Remote Control 1967 Ford Mustang GT” Man I love that car. I also have a local lake to our house and there I could take my High Wing Racing Boat out and spend hours. This stems from the days when I was young and my dad would take me out with our models to test them. I guess I kinda got the bug from there. I find it Sooo relaxing and it also De-Stresses me.
Now I have found a new RC passion… RC Helicopters. Boy they rock. The only thing that I would say about them is that they are hard to fly. They take dedication and plenty of time to practice with. The Controls
You need to learn the controls so you can fly your RC Helicopter. You need to be able to hold it in a steady hover first of all as well as knowing your pitch and roll controls and where you add in your torque and even hoe heavy a hand you need for the control so you can take the RC Helicopter where YOU want to fly it. For the first flight and hover test keep the Helicopter low to the ground and stand well back to give it room to manoeuvre. The Flying Surfaces
Just like in flying real full size aircraft you need to know your flying surfaces and how to inspect, clean and maintain them. You need to know from your rotor to your tail rotor. That said certain areas will need more attention like the engine and any of your moving surfaces. As these areas are what you really use to control your RC Helicopter you will need to inspect them regularly and oil, grease and refuel by the book and this will prolong the life of your RC Helicopter.
First Flight
Taking your RC Helicopter for it’s first flight can be a fantastic and rewarding feeling and as you master the basics of the flight then your confidence and skill levels will soar as will the feeling of relaxation and fun.
